Is It Too Late?

Postby rupietoot » Thu Sep 17, 2015 12:10 pm

Hi There,

In the process of selling our house on the beach and moving to our house on the River - Question is, is it too late to dig up a piece or two of plants and transplant them at the new digs (pardon the pun :D )? I have a few hostas that I hate to leave totally behind and a few others.... I live in Northeastern NB which is either zone 3 or 4....

I agree, as long as your ground isn't frozen solid (on either end) you should be fine. Transplanting in the fall is fine as long as you keep it well watered since they don't have any working fine roots to work with this year. The general rule for fall is keep things well watered until total freeze up.
