how exciting! will it get sweet enough to eat when larger? Of course I see the title and think Pineapple Express aka the warm coastal weather we keep having instead of winter up here!

If it grows and completely ripens like the one shown in my hand ( I think the present one is grown from the top of that one ) it will be unbelievably sweet and "pineapply" compared to what we get in the supermarket. It will be larger than that first one that I grew stunted in a small pot; but how big is yet to be seen. It'll likely take a year to reach full growth and ripeness because it does not have the advantage of field growth under a tropical sun

I like you have kept us updated on its growth Dave. Your green thumb for the "out of the ordinary" plants you have grown and shared pics with us is always a treat

WOW!

Tell me, do you talk to it when you visit? Touch it, gently?

I do with my plantings...not great long conversations, but I do pause, stroke, praise and thank.

(it works on the dog and cat, so it should work on the plants, right?)

Dave, that looks amazing! Your GH surely made the difference having the tropical condition thus the fruit...I bet you'll plant that crown again when the fruit ripens... As I don't have a greenhouse of my own, I am not that optimistic for some fruits on the 2 pineapples I planted years ago. I simply planted them just to remind me where I came from originally. I normally plant several every year (group them together) just for tropical effect in the garden and let them die in winter saving just the potted two.

Here they are...
