Measured it this morning... It's 5 " from the stem to the base of the leaves on the top and 14" in circumference now.

Here's the latest on the pineapple ..

June 30web-2015.jpg

Not a lot of change detectable in the photo, but it is now about the same size as most in the supermarket. I noticed there is a daughter plant starting to develop on the stem. The pineapples must be enjoying the roasting temperatures in the solarium.. I have a second pineapple developing its flower bud .

Dave - we are driving to the coast on Sunday - we can drop by for pineapple dessert!

This will be a crazy trip - got to go to the coast to pick up the family boat at hubby's brother's place in Coquitlam. Normally it is stored in Grand Forks area and we just have to tow it 25 km to the lake, but not this time. Oh, the joys of towing a boat over the Hope-Princeton and even better up the switchbacks coming east out of Osoyoos. It will be a long day heading back east on Monday, but worth it when we finally get everyone and everything across the lake and settled in the cabin for 2 weeks.

The steady heat and sun has made the pineapple ripen fast. Time to harvest it ; and wait for daughter plants to develop.

The pineapple on the second plant is growing fast in this heat.

OMG Dave. It looks wonderful. What patience and what an accomplishment.
I too am wondering how, where, when, you are going to eat it. Any special prep? Will you be sharing it with anyone?
Keep us posted.
