biological nemotodes

We have in past years had a lawn with big brown areas. In July I 'd see swarms of large , lacy flies come up out of the grass.I think they said at the nursery they are King Flies. This year we bought nematodes. They come in sponges. The sponges get soaked in a pail of water, and then the water is sprayed onto the grass. The grass looks the best we've ever seen.
It was an expensive application but well worth it.

I have heard they are using nematodes in greater Vancouver to deal with some pest that is killing everyone's lawns. Supposed to be the ONLY think that works in that situation. Needs must, I guess.

I've used them for quite some time in the greenhouse, but never outside, so is good to know.
