Ants on Raspberries

Postby soccermomof3 » Fri Sep 13, 2013 8:10 am

Does anyone know how to prevent ants from eating my raspberries? When I pick the berries, I have to pick the ants off many of them, and they leave holes as they eat if I don't pick them soon enough.

Are you sure it's ants? Had a look over my raspberries and found out it was earwigs followed by a couple of enterprising chickadees.

I would suspect small slugs more than ants or earwigs. The slugs do their damage at night ; leaving the daytime pests to take the blame.

No, they are definitely ants, as I have to pick the little buggers off the berries as I pick the berries. And they are not just on the surface, but peering out of the holes they have eaten into.
